There are many varieties of the certifications of the English language.
It is important to understand that, in general, there is no ‘better’ or ‘worse’ certification; the certificate choice depends on your personal / professional goals. You just need to choose the most appropriate one according to your needs.

Details of English Certifications
YLE – Young Learners test
Young Learners is a series of fun, motivating English language tests, aimed at children of 7-12 years old. There are three activity-based tests – Starters, Movers and Flyers.
Cambridge English: Starters – is the first of three Cambridge English: Young Learners (YLE) tests for children. Young Learners (YLE) exams for children between the ages of 7 and 8 who have studied English around 100 hours. This exam will encourage your child to learn English from an early age and create a positive attitude to language exams.
Cambridge English: Movers – is the second of three Cambridge English: Young Learners (YLE) tests for children. Young Learners (YLE) exams for children between the ages of 8 and 11 who have studied English around 175 hours. In the exam your child will need to understand basic instructions in English, to answer questions and write down simple facts (such as days of the week, times or names)
Cambridge English: Flyers – is the third of three Cambridge English: Young Learners (YLE) tests for children. Young Learners (YLE) exams for children between the ages of 9 and 12 who have studied English around 250 hours. In the exam your child will need to explain the differences between two stories or pictures, to write or tell a short story in English, to ask questions and use the past tense.
KET – Cambridge English: Key
A Cambridge English: Key (KET) qualification is proof of your ability to use English to communicate in simple situations. KET is designed for teenagers who speak English at A2 level (Pre-Intermediate).
PET – Cambridge English: Preliminary
A Cambridge English: Preliminary (PET) confirms the knowledge of English at level B1 (Intermediate). Certificate of PET is a confirmation of the ability to use the language in everyday situations, traveling, at work.
FCE – Cambridge English: First
A Cambridge English: First (FCE) confirms the knowledge of English at level B2 (Upper-Intermediate). In addition, FCE certificate is required for admission to work and schools, universities around the world.
CAE – Cambridge English: Advanced
This certificate confirms the knowledge of English at level C1 (Advanced). Employers rely on CAE certificate, since it objectively assesses the language skills necessary for professional work. Many foreign universities and colleges accept CAE certificate as proof of the high level of proficiency in English at the reception of foreign students.
CPE – Cambridge English: Proficiency
CPE shows that you have mastered the English language at the highest level: You can be trained in a magistracy and postgraduate study, to carry out high-level negotiations effectively discuss any topic and read the texts of any complexity. In preparation for the CPE exam you will develop the English language skills to the highest level, the necessary scientific and professional environment.
CPE Certificate of unlimited duration and is recognized by more than 20,000 universities, companies and organizations around the world. In addition, a certificate plays an important role in obtaining a visa to the UK, US, Australia and Canada.
IELTS – International English Language Testing System
IELTS is designed to test the language ability of people who want to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. Over 2.5 million tests are taken each year. Educational institutions, employers, professional registration bodies and government immigration agencies often require proof of English language skills as part of their recruitment or admission procedures. IELTS is widely accepted for these purposes.
TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language
TOEFL is a test to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enroll in American universities. The test is accepted by many English-speaking professional institutions. TOEFL is one of the two major English-language tests in the world, the other being the IELTS.
Cambridge English: Business Certificates
Cambridge English: Business Certificates, also known as Business English Certificates (BEC), are a suite of three English language qualifications for international business.
Cambridge English: Business Preliminary
Cambridge English: Business Preliminary is also known as the Business English Certificate (BEC) Preliminary. It is the first in a series of three Cambridge English Business Certificates. This qualification shows employers that you can communicate in English in practical everyday business situations. It is the same level as the Cambridge English: Preliminary (PET), but is focused on English for business.
Cambridge English: Business Vantage
Cambridge English: Business Vantage is also known as the Business English Certificate Vantage (BEC Vantage). It is the second in a series of three Cambridge English Business Certificates. This qualification shows that you can communicate in English in a business environment. It is the same level as the Cambridge English: First (FCE) qualification, but is focused on English for business. Level of qualification:Upper Intermediate= B2. You should take this exam if you want to prove to employers that your English is good enough for you to work in an English-speaking business environment. Studying for the BEC Vantage will develop your confidence and the English skills you need to succeed in international business.
Cambridge English: Business Higher
Cambridge English: Business Higher is also known as the Business English Certificate Higher (BEC Higher). It is the final exam in a series of three Cambridge English Business Certificates. This qualification shows that you can communicate confidently in English in a business environment. It is the same level as the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), but is focused on English for business. Level of qualification: Advanced = C1. The BEC Higher qualification proves to employers that you can be effective in a demanding English-speaking business environment.
